Philosophy Book To Read Novels & Stories

I need to take time. I remember the small room I entered last time. I slowly opened the door and turned on the lampshade. The books on the table were still scattered. I tried to look and read each one of them. These are all interesting books. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a lot more. I tried to find something that might help me, but I found nothing.

The staff don't deserve to be treated poorly, so I plann to stay until she leaves. I pull up the book I've been reading called Thinking in Systems and pick up where I left off. At the receptionist's desk at work, there is a shelf of books available to borrow and I've been working through them one at a time. I even found the karma sutra amongst what I can only classify as the ‘self help’ section, opening it and then quickly closing it in case Enzo or his mother entered the room. A large book at the end of the shelf entitled “The Power and Responsibility of Men” caught my eye. It seemed to be more weathered than the rest of the books, but I didn't get why. “Who would be drawn to a book like that?” I asked myself, pulling it from the shelf.

I wonder and then my eyes fall on the wall clock which is hanging on the wall in front of me. It's 7:34 PM. I gulp and go inside. The door of the room is still open and I eventually forget about it. I see two bookshelves on the right side of the room. I walk towards them and scan the books. The Silent Patient, The Art Of Dealing With People, Criminal Psychology, Bad Science, The Power Of Your Conscious Mind, Thinking Fast And Slow, Atomic Habits, Rationality, Talking To Strangers, Righteous Mind, The Theory Of Everything.

I spotted a few prestigious business awards, several academic accolades, and even a humanitarian recognition. The big bad mafia lord was a nerd in disguise, a genius even. I was impressed, so much so that I strolled over to the bookshelf, scanning the titles. Philosophy, economics, psychology... Xavier's reading list was eclectic and intimidating. I pulled out a worn leather-bound book, "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. He had read this multiple times. I sank into Xavier's high-backed chair, feeling a little too comfortable. My legs crossed on the desk in front of me. I ran my fingers over the cool wood.

Glancing back to the photo, I gasped, “You’re Marcus Aurelius? No, no, no, it can’t be him.” I refused to believe that the Blood Eagle King was Marcus Aurelius. I read so much about him. He was the last great ruler when Rome was in its Golden Age. I went to the bookshelf on my left. The books were mostly about Romans. There were different ones like Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Machiavelli’s The Prince. There was also a book, Meditations, written by Marcus Aurelius himself. “I could really use your wisdom for my crappy life.”

The books on the shelf were neatly arranged but the frayed edges and the little tears on the bottom of most of the books gave out that they’d been read a couple times. There is a book I used to read. The title: Sofie's World, by Jostein Gaarder. About philosophy and really good. Even it is about philosophy, the delivery is light and easy to understand. This book has been translated into Indonesian, but this one is in English. This is better. Sometimes the translation changes the capture, even if slightly. I want to read it again, for brain stormings that have been frozen for a long time due to daily matters. "Do you like reading a book?!"
