I was definitely in a shitty situation now. I had even began to habor doubts that I would ever actually get compensated. The crazy wolf turned out to be a lady called Morning. I didn't know anything about her. And she was traveling with a strange creature called Phoenix. Apparently Phoenix was a human who had also been a hunter previously? It was a very odd dynamic. Although I was mostly pissed off, I had to admit that it was actually entertaining sometimes. It was difficult to get bored when you were surrounded with fascinating specimens like Morning and Phoenix.

he explained. "This is good news then," I said, my fears completed overcome by the new discovery. "It's both good news and bad news. The Phoenix is a dangerous creature. It's a creature of magic. We just need the ash, of it's rebirth. To get it, we would have to battle the creature. It would not give it to us easily," Michael replied, shattering my hope again. "What else do we need to know?" I asked staring at what now looked like an emberpeak.

Author’s POV: “Aramis! I want you to accept my demise as it is and move on. Staying with the thoughts of me and remembering me every second of your life would do you no good. It is only pulling you back from doing amazing things with your kids that you can,” Phoenix whispered in his ears as he slept in his tent. Part of the reason he camped in the mountains was that he knew he will get to see Phoenix a lot. But it wasn’t much since he would normally have dreams about her every time he sleeps.

Benjamin bounces a very excited Phoenix in his lap making her laugh and hold onto his arms to keep herself in his lap. "Mumma Raben and her mate are going on a walk, can I go pwease?" Phoenix asks with a wide exaggerated smile making me giggle and shake my head at how adorably sweet she is. I can’t believe my mates found this little girl out there alone, but I’m so thankful they did and we helped her find her home and family.

The trio went to the city mayor's home for a visit and also confiscated the treasure house for safekeeping. The man noticed a phoenix in the divine beasts section of the house and when they exited the mansion the three has now a newly acquired carriage in the form of the firebird as they once again started on their journey towards the next city in line to visit. The man was closing his eyes savoring the feeling of the wind as his servant prepared to make immortal coffee for him to complete the starting setting of a grand adventure. I’ve only ever seen this place from afar, but I have a weird sense of déjà vu when we walk up. ‘I was here with Ajax a couple of days ago,’ Phoenix’s voice floats into my mind. ‘You were unconscious at the time. We’ve come a long way in a couple of days,’ she says happily. She's right, we have. Much like with Ajax, everyone smiles and waves at Kenna, but they give me nervous glances. “Your hand is getting hot, fire dragon,” the Phoenix says, pushing forward. She turns and looks at me, cocking her head to the side. “Emmi?”

Jackson always claimed that he and Fiona were identical twins, but I doubt that’s also true. “Thanks for helping me out back there,” he sniffed and looked at me. I have never thought that a guy was adorable before, not even Max who was voted ‘the cutest thing that ever was’ by the whole school and Avalon Heights, but Phoenix sure was adorable. His big blue eyes were bigger than usual, almost doe-like. “If you don’t mind me asking, what’s with the BO? You mentioned earlier that it wasn’t your fault. Is it some kind of medical condition, like halitosis?”

But tonight, it was ours alone. Inside, the air was still, carrying the faint scent of fresh wood and promise. I closed the door behind us, shutting out the world. My cut hung heavy on my shoulders, but when I looked at her, it was like the weight lifted. “Kat,” I said, my voice rough, the name tasting like home. “Tonight, it’s just you and me. Before the boys, before the noise. I want this night with my Phoenix.” Her smile was soft, but her eyes blazed, and I knew she understood. This wasn’t about escape—it was about claiming the quiet, the fire, the bond we’d sworn before gods and family alike.

Phoenix didn’t just scream; her soul physically tore open as the obsidian walls of the cave dissolved into a nightmare she had spent four years trying to outrun. She wasn't standing in the Black Abyss anymore.
