The third time—when her gaze lingered just a second too long, I felt something snap. Jealousy is an ugly thing. It doesn’t announce itself politely. It doesn’t wait to be understood. It hits fast, sharp, and without regard for context or reason. And it doesn’t care how old you are or how disciplined you’ve trained yourself to be. All it cares about is possession.

It's hard not to let the green-eyed monster consume me, even though I know this is all part of the greater plan we've meticulously crafted. Deep down, I'm grateful that our plan is working, and that Julie is on the verge of confessing her treachery. But it doesn't extinguish the burning jealousy that simmers within me. The sight of them, lost in their act of love, is both infuriating and heartbreaking.

I scroll through the images of different styles and poses they make for the pictures while quietly chewing on my fingernails. William’s hand on her waist at first, then it moves to her hips and then a little lower. I notice the look he gives her in all those pictures and I know that looks too well because he’s given that to me uncountable times in the past. The last picture is one that does it for me and it’s the one of William deeply kissing Amy on the lips. Jealousy rips through me and I pull at my hair, but before I can help it, I throw my phone against the wall and it hit the wall hard, and it breaks in

But the sight of her with another man, even in this innocuous setting, still stirred a primal jealousy within me.
