Sia began again, “She is injured and feverish.”
The little lady with all the piercing came forward and asked, “Why didn’t you tell us sooner, kid?” Then waved her hand. “Let’s check you up and then we’ll see what you need. Come.”
We followed her into a small room. There were two adjustable chairs, like one would find in the hospitals. She motioned for me to get on one and then without saying a word, she grabbed for my top and looked at the poor job I had done to Band-Aid it. “Damn, girl, that must be hurting like a bitch.” She whistled low, the piercing on her tongue winking. “Let me grab my man, you'd need stitches and a lot of booze.” With that she sailed out of the room.
