Mateo shook his head. Annoyance bubbled up inside him. “You are being so dramatic. I’m not interested in your crazy ideas about this.”
“Fine,” she said, taking a deep breath. “But you are the one who is acting foolishly.”
Suddenly, he stood up, pushing his chair back against the floor with a loud scrape. “You’ve made me lose my appetite,” he said, turning to leave the table.
But Maria stepped forward, her voice firm. “Lilah and Amelia are actually the same person.”
