He was panting, but I didn't give it much thought. “I'm sorry, but the plan failed.” My heart broke in disappointment, and my chest started heaving greatly. “When the boys tried to break out, the electric field kept zapping everyone out of their heads and stuff. Crazy scenes.” Zion said, trying to breathe slower. “So, there's no hope of leaving?” I asked, and he sighed as a response.

Their eyes betrayed their displeasure and frustration at what had happened—their plan had been thwarted by someone. And this failure was no ordinary failure; it had completely thrown everything into disarray. As a result, they were at a loss as to what new plan to devise, yet they had very little time left compared to the original timeline they had intended to follow. “Damn it, who is that guy, anyway? Why did he act so recklessly when we were so close to carrying out our plan!” said one of the members with a cold, furious glare.

He looked so distressed, his hair was disheveled and he kept downing shots of tequila. “What's up,” I mumbled, patting his back. “My plan failed,” he ran his hand through his hair. My fist clenched, but then we can always come up with a better plan. “We'll eventually come up with something better than the first plan,” I said, even though I was pretty mad at him. “The darned plan backfired on me!” He yelled, grabbing the glass cup and shattering it on the floor. “I wouldn't know how it backfired unless you fill me in.”

"Got 'em. Crisis averted, a town saved. You're welcome, yo." Taylor wrinkled her nose. "Gross. They're burnt to shit." "They look fine to me," I said casually. Casual was pretty much all I had in me at this point. I waited for Taylor to say something. This was easily the dumbest plan I'd had since the beginning of this whole mess. It shouldn't work. It didn't deserve to work. It was stupid for a dozen different reasons. All I had was the faint hope that some of the Serenex had gotten on the brats, that it hadn't been cooked right out of them, and that-

“You just ruined our raid with your craziness,” “What the hell are you talking about?” she asked. “That person was supposed to let us into the mansion so we can hack him, but because you decided you wanted Theo. All of that is ruined. Ruined.” he groaned. "You just messed the entire plan with your stupidity." “Well, if you two kept me informed. I would have known,” “That’s no excuse,” I imploded. “We had a splendid plan. A plan I worked on for years and you destroyed it. Just like that,”

The escape had failed. And the consequences were about to be devastating.

Her plan had failed. But she wasn’t finished. Not even close.
