Where the Dead go to Die

Where the Dead go to Die

Every one of her steps ushered the cinderblock structure closer until it loomed overhead, and as she passed into its shadow, Emily found herself admiring how the building managed to be both nondescript and foreboding at the same time, a balancing act of utilitarian blandness that screamed government institution! The voice spoke again. No, not just spoke. It came at her. “That place belongs to the dead.” She paused. The speaker wasn’t in her head, rather somewhere to her right: an old woman with wild gray hair, dressed in black. Emily knew she shouldn’t be unsettled—that she was above all the theatrical bullshit that came with this territory—yet she felt her stomach knotting anyway. “The dead

The Lycan King's Little Hybrid

The Lycan King's Little Hybrid

If wolves stay the same when they are reborn, wouldn’t their hosts be as well? I shook my head, scolding myself. Enough of this. He wants you dead and is planning your death. Get over it and use the anger as fuel to escape. You will not submit to their plans for you. I looked at the shelves of books that lined the walls. Were all these books’ memories? I thought, walking over and inspecting the shelf. The books' titles were made up of dates. I grabbed one intending to open it when the door opened and Daciana walked in and, seeing the book in my hand, snatched it away.

Bound By A Ritual

Bound By A Ritual

Well, you see, the thing is I am curious about how to open the book of names, I heard about the tragic story of people who tried opening it and didn't succeed and died "Pulling the book out I drop it on the table causing Delia to stand up, looking scared. " What are you doing with that!" She growls stepping back " That book should be burnt" " I need to open it" Standing up I watch her shake her head, trying to gain herself "What's so bad about this book, I just need to open it, can you help " " I can never help you to kill yourself " She looked at Sebastian " Why didn't you tell her about the book Sebastian " Sebastian stands to his feet "Tell her what, I have no idea what the book does" he

Slave to the Wolf King

Slave to the Wolf King

Maybe I’m sitting calmly in the café reading a very unexciting book when I twitch once and fall face-first into my frappucino. DeadGirlWalking: I am done living in fear of what is inevitable. I need to feel alive again. SleepingBeast: You think me murdering you is going to make you feel alive? DeadGirlWalking: No, I think knowing that my day is coming soon will make life a lot more interesting until it does. And then when it finally does, I won’t have to think about it anymore at all. SleepingBeast: That’s dark. DeadGirlWalking: You’re homicide-for-hire and you’re calling me dark?

I love this book so much! It’s so beautifully & powerfully written! I love the profound depth of the characters and how they transform. It is also incredibly hot! There are so many chapters, but every chapter is integral to the storyline and the growth of the characters!

honestly one of the best stories on this site. i don’t understand how it’s not at the top of the lists. it’s original, descriptive, the characters are well fleshed out and multi-faceted. the love scenes aren’t cringe inducing teen fantasy garbage. i haven’t read her bother stories but will now

Dead at Heart

Dead at Heart

Ariel looked at him. "Mr. Heathorne." Colin smiled slightly. He took the opportunity to ask her a question regarding the fly-by-wire system. After thinking about it, Ariel recommended a book to him. "You can try going through that book. You should be able to find something useful in it." Colin was quite shocked. It was a special edition book that contained fairly hard-to-read and digest materials, yet it seemed like Ariel had finished reading it. Colin was about to ask Ariel another question, but Nancy approached him just then. "Mr. Heathorne, I didn't get to greet you because I was a bit occupied earlier."

I read the complete Chinese version; jays and Ariel finally get together. It was a wonderful, short, and concise version. However, the English version being translated into Arabic is drawn out with too many events and characters intertwined. I didn't like the story.

Eclipse of the Dead

Eclipse of the Dead

Something that could wipe humanity off the map. “The ones who survive… are becoming… something else,” I murmured under my breath, barely able to believe it. “Zombies,” I whispered. The word hung in the air. Rebecca shuddered. “I can’t believe it. It’s happening so fast. What do we do?” “We study it,” I said firmly, more to myself than to her. “I need to get to the bottom of this. We need samples, data, whatever we can get our hands on.”

The CEO’s Regret: My Ex-Wife is the Hidden Tycoon

The CEO’s Regret: My Ex-Wife is the Hidden Tycoon

She was holding the heavy, red-bound book that Adelaide had saved: the Red Ledger. "The code isn't a string of numbers, Xander," Selene said, her voice a ragged, beautiful sound. "And it’s not something he can take. It’s a Sacrifice Play. Adelaide didn't die for a book. She died to show us how to close the ledger." The boy’s face shifted. For the first time, I saw an emotion that looked like frustration—or perhaps, a glitch. "The Parity is corrupted. You should have been deleted." "I was," Selene smiled, and it was the most terrifyingly joyful thing I had ever seen. "I’m a ghost, kid. And ghosts don't have heartbeats for you to sync."

Declared Dead, Replaced by a Fraud

Nora continued stabbing the hairpin into Henry's abdomen. "Now I finally realize what an absurd mistake I have made! It's only John who truly loves me. You broke his ribs. I'm guessing you even instigated me to kill his mother. You deserve to die and have a taste of your own medicine!" Nora's eyes were bloodshot. Henry was barely breathing anymore. She raised her hand high up once more, aiming for Henry's heart. "Stop right there!" I ran over and kicked the hairpin out of Nora's hand. Letting Henry die just like that would be too easy on him.

He Played Dead, I Played the Headlines

"Easy for you to say. Annie hasn't eaten properly in three days because she's so sad. She can barely walk without support. How is she supposed to climb a mountain on her own?" I looked at the live chat, then headed straight up the mountain without looking back. My weak body felt unbearably heavy. When I was close to the summit, I heard Matteo Cassimo's voice. "The funeral she held for me isn't over yet?" One of his men, Tony Delmonte, replied, "Not yet. Ms. Morello even invited a priest today to pray for you. It seems that she doesn't realize that you faked your death." Matteo smiled coldly, then said with mocking amusement, "She really believes anything I tell her."

Death Bliss

Death Bliss

Again. I say his name again. I say it against his mouth. I say it against the hollow of his throat. I say it until it stops being a name and becomes something else, something that belongs to this room and this night and the two of us moving together on the iron bed with the notebook on the desk and the dead brother's watch catching the lamplight and the olive groves silent beyond the shuttered window.
