Ronnie steps in from the living room, where I can hear Jaxon cheering at the TV. I take a slow step forward, resting against the kitchen island opposite her. “Nina,” I say softly, “this human… this girl, do you think she’s close to Poppy?” Nina lifts her gaze, her eyes clearer than I’ve ever seen them. “I think so. The hunters were watching Poppy because of her connection to you. They used someone she communicated with, someone who messaged her.” Poppy lets out a broken breath. “Annie… there’s no one else.”

“If a grown-up tells you something is a secret from Mommy, that’s not a game. That’s a sign they’re not safe. Got it?” Poppy looks at me, confused. “But he’s nice,” she protests. “He said my cheeks are cute. He said I’m brave. He said if I don’t like the gelato, he will eat it. That means he’s a good person.” No, baby. That means he has a strategy. “And…” Poppy adds, that small smile returning like she’s saving her favorite punchline for last, “…he looks like me.” My heart stops for a fraction of a second, then starts again with a worse rhythm. “Looks like you how?”

He waved his hand smugly and ordered his men to search Poppy. Poppy let them search without fear. “I’ll eat my hat if you can find anything useful on me!” Poppy’s worthless clothes had been thrown away, and the last pill she carried with her had been given to Penny. Anyway, these pills were meant to heal injuries and restore energy, so Philip's people ate them like jelly beans at leisure. Poppy had gotten rid of the pills and was certain they could not find anything on her. “Patriarch, we couldn’t find anything on her!”

I'm about to kiss him, when I hear Poppy dramatically sigh in front of us. "I've said it before and I'll say it again: your relationship is a drug and I'm so high on it right now" I turn my head at Poppys comment to see her holding up her phone, snapping pictures of the two of us. I roll my eyes and stick my tongue out as Rhodes lets out a quiet laugh.

Anna teases me and I laugh. "You know it's not like that. I'm just confused. On one hand there's Tyler who keeps giving me mixed signals. I don't even know where I stand with him at this point and then there's Jace who's asking me to be his girlfriend" I groan. "I think you should just be patient with Tyler,who knows he might feel the same way for you" Anna tells me while Tiffany advises me to move on and stop wasting my time hoping on Tyler. "You know one thing about Players? They never ever change no matter how hard you try. There's this saying. What is it again?" She puts her finger on her jaw as if thinking about something,"Yeah,once a player,always a player" she finishes.

"You're welcome to come." "No thanks." Ruby scoffs. "I've never been paintballing." Poppy says, looking at Alex and I notice they're holding hands. "It's fun, you should definitely come." He says and she grins. Ruby looks at her as though she's committed some treacherous act, folding her arms across her chest and scowling. "I didn't expect that." Luke says, watching as Poppy hops on Alex's back. She giggles and squeals as he starts running after his friends.

I guess he just wanted to watch a movie for the popcorn. Popcorn was Xander’s obsession like Pizza was mine. A small smile made its way on my lips as I tried to focus on the movie. At the end of the movie, I cringed my nose when the guy sat down on one knee, proposing to the girl and she accepted his proposal. I yawned as the credits started rolling.

I told him the same drink was fine; it was good. Michael went to the bar and waited to get the bartender’s attention. I sat alone and enjoyed my cigarette. I looked around the room and noticed a guy checking me out. He was cute, so I smiled at him. I guess he took that as an invitation because he walked over to me. “What’s your name?” he asked. “Poppy,” I replied, smiling. “That’s a pretty name, Poppy,” he said. “A pretty name for a pretty girl. Can I buy you a drink?”

“We’re going to have an awesome season. I just know it!” He stood beside her unsure of what would happen now. Nothing had gone the way he’d anticipated. Sure enough, she grabbed his hand and began pulling him toward the exit. “Come on,” she said. But they didn’t leave the stadium. Instead they went down to a restricted area, where Chloe flashed a pass he hadn’t seen up to this point. He shouldn’t be surprised. But when they stopped outside the players’ locker room, he was. They waited a good while. Several members of the press came and went. Finally one of the players stuck his head out the door, looked up and down and then his eyes brightened when he saw Chloe. Seeing that we'd won against her, I took Sorin's hand and tuned to leave with him and I haven't taken up to two steps when I heard their car roar away madly. Typical Poppy. I fear her indeed and obey her but one of her weakness that only I know about is what I just used. Poppy is someone who can't face the truth. She tend to loose her bravado once she heard the reality that she's not right but wrong, then she switch to her soft girl era even though it doesn't last long, that split second means alot.
