Payton's always been the person to promise one thing and either not do it or manipulate it and find that stupid loophole everyone hates. "Really, how can you promise that? Look at the position she's in now." Liam pointed at me. Payton removed the knife from my chin and turned toward Liam again. "Because I'll do it for her. I'm making her a promise and I intend to keep it." Payton snapped. "Psst yeah right. You're lying, and we all know it, so don't even pretend to make a promise you don't intend to keep." Liam snapped back.

But pr omises are meant to be failed, especially ones made to oneself.

I blinked at him, but he quickly recovered. He moved in closer and he took my hand. "Umm, let's say that this is a promise ring." Jeffrey said. I looked up at myself and smile, "What do you promise?" "I promise you that . . . I will make you happy and that you'll love me." Jeffrey said cockily. I laughed at him. "Fine, you promise?" I asked and stuck my pinky finger out. "Yeah, I promise, even the last part." he said, "You will fall in love with me one day." He hooked his pinky around my pinky and we shook it.
