Clara rolled her eyes. “Now that the mother hen is gone, let’s take a look at you,” she said, retrieving a small eye light from her bag. Bella’s medical knowledge was limited to terms like Popsicle stick, eye light, and ear checker, but at least she knew what it was used for.
“Look straight ahead for me,” Clara instructed, flashing the light in one eye, then the other.
“I see veins,” Bella commented ctiously.
“That’s normal,” Clara reassured, returning the light to her bag. “I don’t see any pupillary abnormalities, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have a concussion. Are you sure you didn’t fall?”
