Darius's eyes always found her. After hours of driving, they left the highway. The road got smaller. Cold air filled the car. The sea was close. Lisa could hear waves crashing far away. "We are almost at the shore," Jake said from the back. "My men know a private dock. Big ships there. We can take one fast." Darius nodded. "Good. We need to move quickly. The island won't wait." The cars turned onto a paved road by the water. A private marina came into view. Bright lights shone over the concrete docks. Large boats floated quietly on the dark water.

His old connections came in handy. “I want Morana and Nox in the basement before I arrive.” It took us about an hour to sail to the mainland after parking my jet on one of the Rim islands I owned in Xafran. I donned a black robe as I entered the beaming enchanted streets of the Pixie port. "Alexander! Over here!" He turned to see a small, battered fishing skiff pulling up to the edge of the pier. Jax stood at the helm, his face illuminated by the glow of a dozen salvaged tablets strapped to the console.
