He turned to me then, trying to hide his smile, but I could see it. “You're not asleep,” I said, reaching out to him and wrapping my arms around his waist. “I told you, I feel better after last night.” He said and patted my back. Probably for me to let him go, but instead I reached down to his ass and pulled him up. He had no choice but to wrap his legs around my waist, his arms around my neck—just as I wanted. “What are you doing?” He asked in a freaked-out voice. Was this too much for him? How would he react if I told him I spilled the beans to my father and the entire pack members—meaning the entire wolf kingdom, because sure enough the rumors would spread?

Rowan's territory was indeed remote and desolate, but it was nothing like I'd imagined. Word had spread that Rowan and I were coming, because many beastmen crowded the roadside holding gifts they wanted to present to us. They all looked well-fed and healthy, their eyes bright. Even the little ones and elderly were plump and rosy-cheeked. Since the apocalypse began, all the clans had struggled to survive. A strong, healthy body was the greatest asset for enduring this long apocalypse. Occasionally, I would access the global surveillance network to glimpse the world being scorched by heatwaves. The traces of civilization were being erased at breathtaking speed. Skyscrapers grew brittle and collapsed under the relentless heat. Forests turned to scorched earth. The oceans evaporated, revealing jagged seabeds and countless skeletal remains of once-living creatures.

He could still make something of himself. Bang! A heavy impact suddenly sounded against the glass. Ray jerked and looked outside. On the ground lay a hailstone the size of a fist. This wasn't some prank made in a kid's freezer, because the hailstone was dark green. Hail. Ray's heart tightened—then he let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. The apocalypse had arrived, right on time. Bang! Another hailstone crashed down, this time onto the roof, making a sound like metal slamming into metal. The sky, which had been clear, rapidly darkened, and mist began to rise.

"What is it?" I walked quickly to the desk. I set my heavily encrypted tablet down on the black stone. My hands were actually shaking. "I scrubbed the island," I began, my voice low and tight. "When we left, I triggered the liquidation protocol. The servers were wiped. The physical infrastructure of the Abyss was flooded. The Apex Bloom was meant to be entirely erased from the earth to protect our transition to London." "I know," Lolita said. She stood up and stepped closer. The scent of her expensive perfume mixed with the dark, intoxicating aura of her absolute power. I wanted to drag her across the desk and bury myself in her, just to prove we were still alive. "We buried it."

I can't wait to see you homeless, surrounded by zombies—that'll be real fun. With that, they struggled to lead the three mastiffs away, tugging and pulling them with effort. He unbuckled and prepared to leave. Before he stepped out, Cyrus spoke again. "Thorgan, be wary of one thing." Hearing his name like that felt close and personal. "What is it, Cyrus?" Cyrus' expression turned serious. "The apocalypse is dangerous. Willowford Town is known for its food and produce. Others may come to take it. Stay alert." Thorgan swallowed as his nerves tightened. "Yes, Cyrus. Noted."

Seventeen years had passed. Luna can be seen running after her pet, Apophis. Her long, black hair shines under the light of the sun, thanks to her silver streaks. "Got you! Please don't run away every bath time, Apo." she hugged the being in her chest and went to the back of their house for the bath. Apophis is a mutation between a pig and a dog. After what people call the "Omega" or the end of the world, governments tried to save living things on land. This includes mutations in animals and plants to try to repopulate the world. Apophis is one of them.

Callie's eyes widened in incredulity. "The apocalypse?" "Armageddon, Ragnarok, and whatever you want to call it." "And two ghosts–" He corrected. "Witnesses." "–are a sign that the world is going to end?" "It’s the first sign. There will be others." "Like?" "War, famine, plague, death," he listed off. "The Four Horsemen of the apocalypse will come and wreak havoc while we’re powerless to stop it."
