The world had descended into chaos, and every day felt like a struggle to keep hope alive. The fever was spreading faster than anyone had anticipated, and the infected were becoming more aggressive. Entire cities were falling one by one. The streets were empty save for those who had already been overtaken by the virus, their grotesque, zombie-like forms stumbling mindlessly through what remained of civilization. It felt like the end was drawing near, and even the most optimistic people were beginning to lose faith.

That was also why our security was the best in the whole city. I only found out in my last life that, after the world was hit by the deadly heatwave, a lot of desperate people showed up. In the apocalypse, humanity meant little. Everyone answered only to themselves. In an insignificant part of a second, the music and clamor of individuals quiet down, absolute stillness rules for a brief time before chaos and frenzy take over the environment. Individuals scream in fear and run in every conceivable size, as if they are avoiding something, until out of nowhere each of them begins to disappear in waves of green smoke.
