She kept crying, she kept crying, her painful cry made everything in pain. Agonizing sobs rang out for a long time before she passed out from exhaustion. Crying was pouring down her smeared face, and she had puffy eye corners. When a five-year-old child witnesses his biological father murder his biological mother, he experiences a pain that few people can comprehend.

I hadn't even realized I was crying. The worry in Bryson's eyes turned to full panic. "What is it? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" His questions kept firing. I shook my head. "No…it's just…it's just…that's so sad. That poor Luna." A sob shook my chest and I watched as Bryson's panic turned to compassion. His arms reached out and wrapped around me, pulling me tightly against him. Without pause, I buried my face into his chest and clung to the back of his shirt.

I see her pains and how she tries so hard to hide them with a smile. Sometimes I want to break down and cry but for her, I try to be strong. However when she is not watching I go to a private place and cry. They say strong men do not cry but for Angela’s sake I agree to be a weakling for her sake I agree that I am not man enough.

Please f-forgive me!!" The leader started and all the other boys cried for mercy altogether, saying sorry again and again.

Davis comes up beside us and reaches out to stroke my back. “It’s gonna be okay…” Davis reassures, his voice gentle. “No it isn’t,” I cry into Boyd’s chest. I’m so worked up that my whole body is trembling. I pull back, wriggling out of Boyd’s embrace. Phoebe covered her lips, tears streaming down her face as she ran toward the restroom. She kept her head low, afraid of letting anyone see her in such a disheveled state. Once inside, she hurried into a stall, locked the door tightly, and slowly crouched down, wrapping her arms around her knees as she broke into uncontrollable sobs. Her cries echoed within the small cubicle, filled with sorrow and despair, as if trying to release all the grievances she had suppressed over the years. She cried for what felt like an eternity until her eyes were so swollen she could barely keep them open.

The boy replied sadly, the excitement in his eyes melting away instantly —his eyes became shallow, like they lost the emotion inside it. Aunt Elsie was furious at his quiet reply but managed to still smile at him. “You can't tell me it's nothing. Why were you crying?” She managed to sound friendly as she squatted down to his size. “Graciela told me how hard you've become in the last few days. Now tell me, boy, what's wrong?”

And the weight of that name was crushing him. He sank to his knees. He didn't mean to. His legs just gave out. He knelt on the expensive Persian rug, his head bowed, his hands gripping his thighs. He cried. It wasn't loud. It was a silent, heaving grief that shook his entire frame. He cried for the cold apartment. He cried for the chipped mug. He cried for the woman who had loved a monster so much she let him erase her. And he cried for the boy in the photo. The boy who had been hungry.
