Alexandro sighed. He had never read a story to anyone. But this little boy, this little boy who secretly climbed into his car trunk, who asked to be carried at the orphanage, who sobbed because he was scared of the dark, somehow made him soften.
"Fine," he said. "What story?"
Leo smiled. "A pony story."
"Pony?"
"Yes. A flying pony."
Alexandro was silent for a moment, then he began to tell the story. His voice was low, deep, not like someone reading a fairy tale, but Leo listened. His eyes didn't blink. His tiny hand held onto Alexandro's index finger.
