The Lost Pack
Ronnie says quietly, pulling the old book back in front of him, his fingers tracing over the ancient text, searching for something.
“Pops,” the Luna says through the phone, and Poppy finally hitches a breath.
She shakes her head, her copper curls bouncing with the movement. I know before she even moves what she’s about to do. She’s going to run.
The phone drops from her hand with a thunk, and she presses her palms to the table before her chair scrapes back and she pushes to her feet.
“I need some air,” she breathes, her voice small and shaky.
Leo and Jake are already out of their seats.
