It was really nothing special, just a normal spacious room in the big house that housed numerous books, the books ranged from architecture to romance, what surprised her was the fact that there was a section on pregnancy, he had pregnancy books. I was an employee at a secretive research lab located overseas, and I accidentally discovered an impending apocalypse known as the pyro-calypse, so I resigned from my job immediately. But before I left, I signed an NDA with the research lab that stated I must never leak any details about the apocalypse to other people to prevent mass panic on a global scale. After getting off the plane, I went home with my luggage in town. I hoped to convince my mom, Dorothy Locke, and my younger brother, Nicholas Kennedy, to head to the mountains, where we could stock up on supplies and tough out the apocalypse there.

Poppy could almost taste it. Poppy rolled over and smacked her alarm as these thoughts ran through her head, even as she tried to forget her rather exciting dream, determined to make it through today. One more semester. And then an internship. She was already applying for those. Her prospects looked good in that department. She already had a few bites from companies in the city. The best part? They were all paid internships! Maybe one more semester and then she could quit the bakery. That might mean looking for an apartment, but she was pretty certain Melissa would be happy to have a roommate for at least a semester.

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

I spoke up, hopefully a hot drink would warm me up a little. Jake and Porter came back with a large plastic box filled with ammo that they placed on the floor and a couple bags of pasta and some jars of herbs. “Macy is going to love me.” Porter smiled, drawing out his words in a sing song way that had us smiling as he showed us the herbs. “She's been after some of this for months but I kept forgetting to look.” “Who's Macy?” I asked not recognising the name. “Works in the kitchen. Big assets.” He smirked and winked and I could imagine. I chuckled and shook my head at him. Porter would be Porter. “Found some red wine as well I figured she could use that right?”

I instructed my newly employed secretary who of course knew I wasn't really sick, I was just bored. After thinking of what to do for a while I decided it was best to go sightseeing, that might inspire me to actually design something. **** I leave the office and head directly to one of the city's popular cafes, Ahoy. Weird name, right? Whoever owns the place must have some kinda obsession with pirates and fortunately, his little pirates make great coffee.

13|| A Story Or History “Your highness, are you sure we should go there?” Poppy stood in front of the royal library looking like we belonged anywhere else than there. The maids and servants that passed up didn’t even acknowledge us but this time instead of sneering and pretending I didn’t exist, they looked more fearful, like they didnt want to offend me which I was very comfortable about. But then I don’t have the chance to ask them what I needed to do to enter the library in the first place.

How dare you lay your dirty hands on me you swine, I will show you" She got back up and rushed to Vivian but she got pushed back, stumbling and falling on her behind again. Vivian rushed on her and gave her another slap making Poppy dizzy and held her hair back smacking her face on the floor. “Let me go, let me go you pig“ “I see you still have strength to spew nonsense“ “I said let me go, help anyone please help me“ Rushed footsteps came into the living room and saw Poppy crying and Vivian holding a book staring at Poppy with concern in her eyes.

I wondered how much longer I'd be able to keep the secret from Bapi. "You were saying something about poppies?" I probed, finishing off the tea and placing the cup on the ground. "Oh, yes. So, I went on a walk, last night, and I found a few poppy flowers in the poppy fields out at the edge of the town," he said, the usual playfulness in him mitigated. "You're drunk, aren't you?" He shook his head, chuckling. "No, you don't understand! I saw opium poppies."
