Portrait Of A Lady On Fire の小説・ストーリー

And just like all those times, I'm shouting it now, and no one is coming to help me. I bang heavily on the door with my fist. The fire is spreading towards the door, consuming the leather couch, documents, a white sketch pad on my table, a hanging... A white sketch pad on my desk. Lily's portrait. My brain files open and without even thinking. I jump into the billowing cloud of smoke, burning my suit in the process. I squint until I locate the pad on the desk. The paper was blackish with smoke and half burned. I pick it up and wave in the air until the fire squelches. I carefully fold it's remnant and hide it in the inner pocket of my suit.

Isabel Varela. Amara’s heart stopped. She moved closer to the glass, breath fogging it. “What… what is this?” “It was hers,” Milo said from behind. “Every night she danced here. Alone. In the dark.” The painting captured Isabel younger, fierce, fire in her eyes. A woman who’d survived hell. “She was more than your mother, Amara. She was la reina de fuego — the Queen of Fire.” Amara stared. “She was in the cartel…”

The moment Aurora’s eyes shot open, her body jerked violently in the bed. Her sheets were soaked, skin clammy with sweat. Her breathing came in ragged gasps, and tears blurred her vision. She could still see it. The fire. The smoke choking the air. And the silhouette. This time, the figure in the flames had been more visible. A woman. Tall, regal in posture, but cloaked in black, her features distorted by a blur of smoke and heat. Only this time… she didn’t feel like a stranger.

“ No way,I'm too tough for that.” She gave a knowing smile, then frowned. “It felt like the fire all over again…like I couldn't move…like I was stuck under a rock or something.” My chest tightened. “Do you think the fire caused my sickness?” “No,” I lied calmly.“ it wasn't your fault. None of it was.” “But I saw a lady…from the flames…” She whispered. “ The lady was out to get me.” A chill crawled up my spine. “She looked very threatening but somehow she was still beautiful.”

The door, that very door, which had been burning so fiercely, finally gave way, crumbling into ashes upon the floor. The burning room became visible. Flames coiled and snaked outward, yet they stopped exactly at the threshold of the doorway. Languidly a figure emerged from within the flames; she walked through the fire as though it was nothing but the wind. Red hair glowed behind her like molten lava in its wake. Celin raised her tearful eyes, the cloud of smoke preventing her from seeing clearly at first. But slowly… her gaze focused. A figure. A woman, to be precise.

he asked. The flames did not respond. Instead, they sharpened and wavered into an image—a girl in a white dress, running barefoot through the fire. Camela. But she wasn’t as he remembered her now; she was younger and more vulnerable. Her scar on her chest was raw and fresh. She wrapped her arms around herself as the flames chased her. “Stop!” Vincent shouted desperately, lunging at the wall of flames. His claws tore through the fire, scattering sparks everywhere. But for every hole he tore open, another wall rose even higher.

Then my gaze fell on Cara. She stood in the fading moonlight, her chest rising and falling rapidly, her skin streaked with blood that wasn’t hers. She held herself tall, shoulders squared, but I saw the tremor in her fingers, the faint shaking in her knees. And still she looked like fire. Still, she burned, even in the aftermath of war. Kai snarled inside me, demanding I go to her, mark her, take her, claim what was ours. She fought beside us. She bled with us. She is ours.

I ordered though half of my heart was in Havana. And there came one of my palace maid running, panting and wailing heavily with terror written all over her face. Oh damn, goddess please take me now. From her expression one could see that there was fire on the mountain. It looked like a volcano erupted on her face. That isn't supposed to be funny. "My Lord!." She called with a teary voice, there's only so much i can take. "What's going on? What is it?." I asked hurriedly.
