I did not invite Drew with me this time, as to not get him caught if ever this visit turns into an ugly reality. ‘I wish not.’ I said to myself as I looked out the window, watching as we pass by trees upon trees with a couple of animals either up the tree or on the ground. There were some squirrels, birds of many kinds like a woodpecker, a raven, and lovebirds. On the land were a few rabbits approaching the bushes of berries, a possum and even a rustle from the bushes but I was not able to see what animal it was.

“Shoo...pesky little vermin!” said an old woman chasing away a murder of crows huddling all over her garden in the crag. At the front left side of her hut close to her whitewashed and straight spaced picket fence, the pesky loud birds had been munching and uprooting her germinating seeds of gold nugget squash and had scattered it all over the precipice.

I smirked. “I don't.” Penn grinned. “But ten rounds usually wipes me out.” “I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about Zel's sex life.” Zeke shook his head. “Yeah, and I learned about yours too!” I shot back. “Wait, be quiet.” Posy whispered. “It's just sex, Posy.” I laughed. “No shh! I hear something.” I heard the sound of snapping twigs. Creatures that closely resembled people emerged from the bushes. Their skin was tinted blue and seemed to be rotting. Pieces of flesh hung off their cheeks and noses.

It felt like heaven! Inside the hedge was wider than I anticipated, and flowers went as far as the eyes could see, planted in neat and well planned ridges and batches, with different colors and types, glowing under the illumination of the multicolored string lights. A mammoth tree stood at the center with green string lights wrapped around it, making it glow beautifully like an elven tree, there was a pond down by a side, fountains, carved garden chairs, and then a swing.

I decide to throw on a grey vest top and pair of black, cotton joggers along with my matching converse, not being too picky of my choice given what happened to my dress the other night. When we reach the back entrance of the building that leads to the outside I can hear a faint commotion of growls sounding from beyond the colourful garden, growing closer the nearer we approach the climbing bushes surrounding the home. When we breach the endless abyss of colourful flowers and sprawling plants, we finally pass under the remaining arched shrubbery connecting to the garden before exposing an open landscape tucked carefully away from prying eyes. I reached a side door that led outside, and without hesitation, I slipped through, barely closing it behind me before breaking into a run. The night air was sharp and cool, but I barely felt it as I sprinted, following a path that led away from the house. The grounds were enormous, more like an estate than a simple backyard, with sprawling gardens and dense hedges lining the pathways. I thought I could see the edge, some glimpse of freedom, but as I rounded a corner, I stumbled upon something unexpected—a maze. I circle the hilltop and cut across the neighborhood via a smaller road. As I turn the corner, a sound coming from one of the trashcans on the pavement stops me. Going closer, I pause and listen. There it is again, a faint scratching. My pulse quickens. It can be a snake, but it can also be a hedgehog trapped inside. Carefully, I throw back the lid and peer over the top, my body poised for action, and then my heart melts on the spot.
