HER MOTHER’S HUSBAND

HER MOTHER’S HUSBAND

he said. The yew hedge — I had seen it from the window, the tall dark hedge at the far edge of the formal garden, which I had thought was the garden’s border. He walked toward it. The path curved around the corner of the east beds and then ran along the face of the hedge, and at a point I hadn’t been able to see from the window there was a gap, an opening in the yew that looked too narrow to be intentional and was wider than it appeared. He went through.

Ghost Of My Heart

Ghost Of My Heart

Horan explained as he pointed to the opposite side of the stream, where the garden or the forest was. "Alright, understood." Jennet nodded her head as she held her husband's arm when they crossed the bridge. But, mid-way, they still stopped to admire the beautiful wisteria above their heads. The wisteria housed another colony of beings that looked like squirrels but had long ears like rabbits, poofy furs that made them look chubby and crystal-clear wings that looked like the cicada’s wings. Their eyes were big and gleamy in caramel colour, and they squeaked when they were spooked. Oh, they were as huge as a bee and they had cute bobtails.

I’m only on chapter 14, but so far I really like it... ...️ There’s a lot of chapters, 183 total so far, so I don’t see myself catching up anytime soon. Either way, I’m sure I’ll enjoy the journey till the end!

Billionaire's Accidental Wife

Billionaire's Accidental Wife

and yet Shawn ignored her never-ending complaints. The far east side of the garden was bordered by a beech hedgerow that was deeper than her meagre self, and her arms stretched wide. In it nested a community of birds, taking shelter and doubtless finding food there too. Yet that hedge waited until early June to become fully green. "Catherine, can we just enjoy our lunch, please? It’s not for any occasion, but can you relax and stop thinking about morbid things? Look, I got your favourite garlic bread."

I'm almost done with book 1 and all I can say is you need to read this, what u see in the first few chapters were just snacks, the real thing is when Catherine and Shawn's adventures started to look for his grandfather's treasures. It was like full of twist and your learn alot from this.

Winter's Lost Mate

Winter's Lost Mate

It left huge drops of ashes on its trails and let out a deep bass growl whenever he sniffed the air. My desperate search caught sight of the repellent hedges. They were mostly browned, dead, and without blossoms. The hedges were the only fencing the mansion had. "I do, actually," she replied. "You do? Great!!" I exclaimed. It was such a relief. "It knows we're here. It can smell us. We shouldn't let it reach the door." Poppa said, heading for the door. "So what's the plan?" "We have less time to talk or plan. We simply improvise. You could make for the flower plants, fetch us a stem we could use to end it."

Whispers of the Devil

Whispers of the Devil

I’m several hundred yards away from the back porch when something large skitters away through the encroaching woods, and I halt. Helen has been complaining about the racoons and opossums. I used to leave crackers and stale cookies out on the back porch at the Gregory place for them. It was my little secret. I turn back to the house, but movement catches my attention through the trees, and I pause.

Book 2# - Carefully she had wished

Book 2# - Carefully she had wished

Show daddy how scared you are… I hide behind the hedge , hidden away from her. I am able to walk freely up and down the passage way but on the outside of it - I use this to my advantage. “So… You want to play cat and mouse , do you?” I speak in a cool calm and collected voice from the furthest point away from her. I watch as her head whips to the sound of my voice – must have scared her when she saw nobody. Her eyes are roaming everywhere – looking for me. She looks away from my direction , and I take this opportunity to throw a pebble through the hedge in front me , towards the hedge on the other side of the pathway.

Iron Veve's Kiss

Iron Veve's Kiss

Another watched me, head tilted, before fluttering to the handlebars of the bike. The numbers on my arm dimmed, their light leaching into the swamp mud. Only the crow saw—its red eye reflecting the fading glow like a dying star. The swamp belched up a guttural yipping. Three coyotes slunk from the kudzu, ribs pressing against mange-peeled hides. Their eyes burned amber, too human in the half-light. The leader limped, its left foreleg bent like a question mark etched in bone—a broken compass needle pointing nowhere good. Mamá had warned me about these: the kind Mamá called ‘crossroads hounds’, shaped by the land’s hunger.

Alpha's Wolf Less Mate

Alpha's Wolf Less Mate

"He's probably out hunting." Just as soon as she finished speaking, the wooden gates opened and we turned to see Zion coming in with a large game hung over his back. Hazel's eyes lit up and she lifted her gown and ran down the porch steps. Zion immediately pushed off the animal from his body, causing it to land on the floor.

The Kind Villain: A Legend of Woof-Woof

The Kind Villain: A Legend of Woof-Woof

I stood beside the group of men, containing my strength along with theirs' to make it not obvious as we pushed the timber with unity. They were overwhelmed when we didn't only heave the timber but we chuck it away from the wrecked house. But they still suspected my presence which made it possible to happen! We did more throwing, cutting, and heaping of the timbers that blocked the roads whilst Hedwelch and Danteleon are helping too wherever I go. And that is one of the reasons why the residents love them other than their unique appearance far from how I look—with a coat. "Dad..." Hedwelch pulls my shirt after we've collected the boughs all around. "I'm hungry..."

Phillip and Lillian

Louise muttered as she squeaked. Slowly, there was a hum, faint but very disturbing, causing the conversation to stop to hear the voice more clearly. As the hum grew louder, a colony of glowing insects darted before their eyes, circling overhead. It was the Pixies, the fierce hum muffled at the sight of familiar faces.
