[Juliet's POV] I jolted awake and gasped heavily for air. I took in the familiar-looking ceiling and bedsheets. I was in the rented apartment I had lived in for three years before the apocalypse. I felt the sun shine on the back of my hand, its warmth feeling so surreal. I picked up my phone resting by my pillow, and the screen lit up. It was July 15th, 2058—seven whole days before the apocalypse happened. I stared blankly into space for five whole minutes before my mind slowly drifted back to reality. I had truly been given a second chance at life.

Dante held me as if I might vanish, but I no longer had the strength to push him away. Professor Shaw came to my side. “Aria, can you hear me?” I looked at her through the blur. “My baby…” Her expression changed, but her voice stayed steady. “We’re taking you to the institute medical center now.” As they lifted me onto the stretcher, Dante tried to follow. Professor Shaw stopped him with one look. “You had your chance to protect her.” The last thing I saw before darkness took me was Dante standing in the hall, covered in my blood, while the wedding ring box lay open at his feet.

As expected, the women around Ray were not simple. Paige looked at the girl in front of her—so stunningly perfect in proportions that she could find no flaw at all. Her face was nearly flawless, and her figure was even more enviable. That alone made it difficult for Paige to counterattack. Because… she really was "earlier." In the pre-apocalypse world, that would have made Paige a home-wrecker at best. But now? She wasn't even a third party anymore. A ninth? A tenth? Or maybe… already in the teens?

“In the last moment before I fell unconscious in the shelter, what I saw wasn’t Dan running away. It was you, standing guard outside the isolation room with a gun in your hand.” I froze. “So,” Ruth said softly, “from the very beginning, it wasn’t you who saved me. It was me… who chose you.” Maybe I was a man full of lies, but she willingly believed every lie I fed her. In this shattered, post-apocalyptic world, we were each other’s only accomplices. Outside the window, the sunlight was perfect. I turned and kissed her. “Honey, time to get to work.” “Yes, sir.”

He wished he could slap himself a few times. During the apocalypse, it was common for women to barter their bodies for food, but that was something that should happen years later. At the start of the apocalypse, such behavior was very rare. Susan's willingness to act this way clearly showed that she had always been a slut.

Kai demands. The Reaper's smile widens. "Death itself is dying. The natural order is collapsing. Someone is trying to end mortality. End consequences. End balance. And if they succeed, reality ends. Existence ends. Everything ends. Only Aurora can stop them. Only the woman who mastered death can save death. Only you, my dear impossible girl, can prevent the apocalypse." Reality fractures. Truth shatters. Understanding breaks. I didn't get a second chance at love. I got recruited. I got weaponized. I got brought back to fight something worse than anything I've faced.

Her gaze swept over Valerie from head to toe. "You broke both your legs?" Valerie stiffened. "Yes." That confirmed it. She really was the tragic heroine from Jason's over-the-top melodrama. Both legs broken, swept away by a typhoon, and somehow still alive. More importantly, this was the seventh year of the apocalypse. Every doctor Nicole had seen looked pale, gaunt, and exhausted. Valerie was thin as well, but somehow, her complexion was still fair and almost glowing. Jason certainly knew how to pick them.

There is absolutely no excuse. “But Princess.” The omega cried again. “Did you at any time call that number to report what was happening here?” My mom asked. “No princess.” The omega answered. “Then like I said, there is absolutely no excuse for what you all did to my pup. My daughter was nice to you all. She gave her own personal money to bring you all back from the brink of starvation. She sacrificed a lot for you all and you all plotted against her. How could any of you females be ok helping someone rape another female? Why would you want that for anyone, especially someone who gave so much to you?” My mom asked.

Her words return to me: we're the brave Lunas who do what has to be done. She will journey home and live by that now. She won't have a choice; until her child is able, she'll be walking a tightrope each day. But I'm not worried about her. Aurora is the kind to flourish when everything is lost: the cunning, emerging survivor of the apocalypse.

She sat up on the bed with a jerk and looked here and there. "Where am I?" She put some pressure on her brain to recall then everything started to flash in her mind like a playback. Lord of the Dark Aura's sudden visit, him telling her that Dark energy has started to devour her completely, Lara found out her truth, then she killed herself and her clan tried to kill her. At last, someone came there and saved her from dying. But who was that person she didn't know? "So whoever saved me has brought me here. But where am I?" Mumbling that she got off the bed and went to open the door to go out but to her surprise, she found the door locked.
