Adelena said and kneel down close to her sister and cut a place in Ravenna arms and threw a seed inside it which quickly dissolved with her blood.

But it was just one word. "Mirror." Daciana looked up, her eyes locking with Kellen’s. They didn’t sleep the rest of the night. The next morning, Selena was summoned again, and they also brought in one of the high priestess’ disciples to check for cursed items. But Daciana couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t over. This was only the beginning of something darker, and the most bone-chilling part is that she didn't know what would happen next. Anyway, as she, Kellen, and Alan stood at the entrance of Alan's room, watching as Selena tended to him, the high priestess' disciple, a woman in her late thirties, stepped forward and bowed before them.

Chapter 13: The Price of a Soul The interior of Selene’s cottage felt larger than the outside suggested, the walls lined with jars of shimmering starlight and dried herbs that smelled of ancient winters. In the center of the room was a circular basin carved from a single block of obsidian, filled with water so still it looked like a mirror.

She wondered how they were in some sort of magical place yet there were crocs. Mrs. Hasse looked over to the supposed woman. “And who might this young one be?”, she smiled at the silver-haired woman in front of her. Hughes stood in attention as he respects the Witch of Neverwhere. “Madam Hasse,”, he lowered his gaze as if to bow. “She is Selina, the heir of Kósmima.” The old woman chuckled. Selena meanwhile, was left baffled by what Hughes said. “Or that is what you might think she is.”

I reach out, my fingers brushing the label, when a voice calls out. “Ah, that one’s not for sale,” says a man as he approaches. “But I see you’ve got good taste. Selene made that. She’s the best potion designer we’ve got.” Selene. So that’s her name. “She made this?” I ask, my voice calm but firm. “Every potion here,” he nods proudly. “She’s a genius. Never trained formally but has instincts like no other. It’s a shame really…” “A shame?” He shrugs, a bit awkwardly. “Well, she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves. People still treat her differently, you know? Her mother was a surrogate. Some of the old families still hold that against her.”

And that she will bring them to me when the time is right. I am still pissed off about last night. I know I have succeeded in letting my brothers believe I am not responsible for Elara’s urges for me, but the bastards got in my way with time alone with her.
