I set my toothbrush down and walked back to the bedroom. My backpack still sat on the floor. I grabbed it and dumped the contents onto the bed. Seven books tumbled out, spines cracked and pages worn. The Bloodline Codex landed on top. I pushed that one aside. I'd read enough of it for now. My fingers traced over the other titles. Advanced Elemental Manipulation. I said, smiling, “we make the academy burn from the inside.” “How?” I put my hand into my cloak and pulled out a small, folded parchment, taken from the archives. Electric current then travelled in her arm as she held her hands in abdomen level. Then sparked a single ball of blue magic filled with lightning. Thunder begun to cackle with intensity as the ball of lightning grew between her lifted and lowered palm. Mayari's eyes then snapped open, her now glowing blue eyes travelled from her magic to the high ceiling. And with one swift movement she tossed the ball of thunder above.

“These are used to determine a mage’s aptitude for magic.” He went under one of the wide trunks and reached out to a low hanging red orb. It looked like a small upside-down fish bowl. As soon as Damien touched it, it began to glow faintly and give a sweet tinkling sound. “Red is the most resistant.” said the groundskeeper. “Purple comes next, then blue, green, yellow and orange as the most sensitive to magic.” he went over to an orange orb and breathed on it. The orb gave a high pitched tinkle, a small web-like crack forming around it. “As you can see, even a little magic can easily break it.”
