The Star-Crossed Mistakes
I thought about that photograph. The girl in the picture looked so calm, yet so lost. And the person who took that shot, how much must his heart have been aching?
I carefully tucked the photo inside an old book and kept it on my nightstand. Every night before bed, I would take it out and look at it. I would look at myself in the picture, read the lyric written on the back, and trace the unspoken love hidden within those words.
As the days bled into one another, I kept tending to my orchard and my vegetable garden, living a quiet life. The only thing different was that I had developed a new longing for Christian.
