[flashback] Kayla’s being scolded now for a sin that she didn't commit. It’s because her mom's favorite vase worth several million was broken. She didn’t know what happened here because when she arrived it was already broken. She was right in front of the broken vase picking up the pieces just so no one will get hurt when her mom came that's why she thought Kayla was the one who broke it and scolded her right away.

“Both. Today I’m leaning towards reckless.” The voice slips back in, smooth, almost indulgent. “Reckless makes you sloppy, Blackburn. Sloppy makes mistakes. And mistakes …” The pause drags, thick with relish. “… win wars.” His words coil through the line, stretched and deliberate, like barbed wire unspooling.

But none of it compares to the fire that ignites the moment he leans a little closer. His fingers are on my jaw before I even register the movement. Dirt and blood smudge his skin. His touch is rough. Raw. I should pull away. I should shove him back and spit every name I’ve ever cursed him with. But I don’t. “You almost got us killed,” he growls. “You’re welcome.” His jaw tics. His hand doesn’t move. “You almost got yourself killed,” he repeats. Is he angry over that? “I’m alive.” “You’re fucking reckless.”

I believe it's about their work because I didn't understand anything. Territory? Shipment? Security? What do these people actually do? Why are they always so busy? Maybe they're from a mob. Like loan sharks I think. Yes, they're loan sharks. So when you borrow money and you don't pay back then they kill you, maybe that's why they killed Terry. I finished my food but I couldn't leave the table because Mr grumpy was still sitting and I didn't want to do anything that would force me to look at him.
