Percy curled up against me, resting his head on my chest. I could feel his heart pounding, and I wrapped my arms around him, holding him close. "Thank you," I whispered into his hair. "For what?" he asked. "For trusting me," I said. "For not giving up." He smiled against my chest. "How could I give up on you?" I held him tighter, unable to find the words to express my gratitude. Percy had given me a glimpse of hope, and I wasn't going to let it slip away. As we lay there in the quiet, his breath evened out, and he drifted to sleep. I listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat and the faint sounds of the cicadas outside.

She reflexively looked up, and a tall figure crashed into her vision. Percival stood at the entrance, his features deep-set. He wore the white shirt Eulalia used to like, with lush green wisteria behind him. Unfortunately, the wisteria blooming season had just passed. Eulalia slowly approached him. With her good eyesight, she could see her reflection in his pupils. Percival's lips moved slightly, and after a while, he only managed to say, "This place hasn't changed..."
