"Then we'll figure out the next thing," Iris says simply. "That's all either of us can do right now. Take one step, then the next."
We reach the ruins by midday, and this time the place feels different in daylight, still eerie, still swallowed by moss and broken stone, but less like something watching us from every shadow.
Damon and the guards stay near the entrance as promised, and Iris and I move carefully through the broken halls, following the same path I remember from two nights ago, though everything looks stranger without torchlight and panic driving my steps.
