“And this auction… it’s more than just an elite event, isn’t it?” Roman and I exchanged a glance. Helen sighed and rubbed her forehead. Kai was the only one who looked excited to explain. "Alright, listen up," Kai said, turning the laptop to face them. "The We Project—which we think actually stands for ‘Werewolf Experimentation or Werewolf project’—isn’t just some business venture or underground research. It’s a full-blown operation focused on supernatural trafficking." Keely’s eyes widened. “Trafficking? Of what?” Roman’s jaw clenched. “Not what. Who.”

The next morning, Kai's excited call woke us at dawn. "I found something!" His voice practically vibrated through the phone. "You need to see this. Both of you." An hour later, we were in his lab, huddled around his main screen. The space was even more chaotic than usual—evidence of an all-nighter. Eventually, Von summoned a hugely tall, and giant creature. Kai's jaw dropped since that creature... is none other than... Peace! Though it's not the real Peace, it's just a clone of that creature. Kai immediately thought about Zaykee and Astrid. He has this feeling that he shouldn't hurt the clone of Peace because it's like hurting the two. Therefore, Von smirked at Kai's facial expression. "What now, Kai? Are you afraid now? You're not a real fighter if you can't even kill a clone, pft!" Von sarcastically stated with a high volume since they are far away from each other.

That, we assumed, was that. “Kai?” Arthur said, the first to recover. “What brings you back to the frozen hinterlands?” Kai shuffled over, clutching a small, professional-looking hard drive. “I… I finished my degree. The film… it did really well. It got me an internship with a nature documentary series.” He took a deep breath, his eyes shining with a fervor we knew all too well. “They want to do an episode. Here. A full-length episode. Not just the aftermath, but… the ongoing story. The living story. The Keepers, in winter.”

Ganner, working on, and testing the weapons they were developing. "I'm sorry, Kael, I..." Justine began, his voice trailing off as he searched for the right words. "It's just that, I've been really busy with work, there's a lot of things going on at the moment, very important things." Kael looked up, his eyes sparkling with interest. "What kind of things?" Justine took a deep breath, trying to think of the best way to explain. "It's um... quite a big deal. You might not understand it all, but what you should know is that it's a project that would work for the interest of human beings on the earth."

He wasn’t even forty yet, yet he was already one of the richest and most brilliant men on the planet. I had to get out of there. But Kaiden was so excited. To fight or to run away? Kai took his time walking around the room, looking at the projects. Scientific advances that would help preserve the environment were one of his main business focuses. And he felt it was important for children to develop a passion for such causes early on, so it didn’t surprise me that he was at a school looking at science projects. Kai was so focused on the children that he didn’t notice the gallery of parents watching on. And for that, I was thankful.
