They killed the researchers after the project failed.” Alexei stopped, his eyes fixed on the prisoner. “Project?” “A hybrid… with Oni traits.” The man stammered. “It got out of control. A massacre.” The silence in the room grew heavier. Alexei put the pliers away and pulled out his phone to record the data and send it directly to the central archives. “You know… you could have said all that without losing half a liter of blood.” He stood up. “But where would the fun be in that?”

Did the teacher put us in a group project? ’Cause let me remind you, we don’t even share classes.” “Not school partners,” Jaden said. “I mean work partners. I got a part-time job here. As a model.” Kai stared. Then laughed again. Louder. “As a what?”
