I was following a pregnant woman through a trail of snow-capped trees, and it was as if I were a ghost just watching because she couldn't see me. Their lives are over in the blink of an eye. Before I could move toward Aria, or let my power flow free and fill me up, I felt it. Another fae, right here, in this very building. I felt it moving behind me, a dark warm, the whisper of a scent of home, and then it was fading. I was on my feet and moving before human eyes could see me. No one stalked Aria, but me.

I ask, my voice low as my gaze drops to the floor. Fae energy is what allows every Fae to harness the power within their core. The powers can be elemental, like fire, air, water, and earth; which is the most common power amongst Fae. The energy might also manifest as musical Allegra, or emotional amplification— where a Fae energy becomes sensitive to emotions. Rarer still is the ancient energy, typically found only in powerful healers and magicians, linking them to powerful demons of the past.

This was the weirdest day. “Princess, this is Faerl, we are magical, and there aren’t humans in our realm. The fae believe that even their beloved gods will be consumed by time in due course. The musicians take out their instruments and start to play an upbeat, but ethereal melody. A fae woman with an almost unnatural voice stands up and starts to sing in their native language. The song makes every hair on my body stand on end with delight. It's pure fantasy come to life. A fae child walks up to Mara and sticks her finger in her mouth. “I’m Pelly,” she says. “Like the floa-uh.” “Periwinkle?” Mara asks with a smile.
