XIX – After the Rain Jin Sanscroft’s fingers ghosted through the fine velvet that the ribbon was made of as he admired it in the dim glow of the candlelight. It was the shade of a rich, dark purple, glimmering so prettily as he turned it amongst his fingers this way and that–the color of royalty as one of his old tutors from the North had told him–soft and silky to the touch, rippling like molten lilac in his hand. He would have been so pleased at how well it turned out but…

I knew at that moment that I had just crossed my boundary. ////////////////////////////////// Okay, so I have decided to give each chapter a status Frenzy(easy to write) Cranky( not easy) Frenzy but a little Cranky, you know what that is. This is imperfection, the first trilogy.

"First, you need to understand what the test is. What it will do to you." Miranda waited. "The Purity Test will strip your soul bare," Vera said bluntly. "Every secret you have ever kept. Every lie you have ever told. Every darkness you carry inside you. The Moon Goddess will see all of it." Miranda's hands started to shake. "If you are using dark magic to create false mate bonds, the Goddess will know. And it will kill you." Vera's eyes never left Miranda's face. "The corruption will burn you from the inside out. There is no hiding from Her light."

On a balcony at an unknown location, A man stood, gazing at his phone in disbelief. His eyes, unlike a normal human’s, were pure white, with no dark pupils. There was a certain sexy charm in every gesture he made. “Did he just hang up on me?” he asked, pointing at himself in disbelief. “Yes,” a shadow replied plainly. “Ah, great. Just great.” “You should know by now how he does things,” the shadow said. “Damn it… he can be very vexing at times,” the man sighed forlornly. “I thought we would use this opportunity to catch up.”

We’re being asked to stand adjacent to a system that interprets them differently. That’s harder. Someone says what everyone is thinking. “Are we being purists?” The word lands sharply. Purism is often a disguise for fear or superiority. I don’t want that. But I also don’t want to dismiss the discomfort. I respond slowly. “I don’t think this is about purity,” I say. “I think it’s about drift.” Drift doesn’t announce itself. It accumulates. One compromise that makes sense. Another that feels temporary. Until you look up and realize your reflexes have changed.

The younger ones are already outside tending the herb beds. “Purity is not merely the absence of sin,” she begins with a clear voice. “It is the active choice to guard the temple of your body against every whisper of temptation. The world outside these walls is filthy. Lust is a thief that steals your soul one glance, one touch, one thought at a time.”

PURITY •••••••••• They say the De la Cruz blood is tainted. That no matter how hard we try, no matter how hard we want, we can never cleanse ourselves of the crimes that those before us have committed. That we'd never be able to completely move away from that life... from this life.
