Dull browns and murky greens.
But the fish—that’s where the color is. Pops of electric blue, lemon yellow, deep purple, pure white, and shimmering black flicker all around us. Manta rays glide like silent kites above the coral, and lemon sharks slink along the edges of the reef. It’s surreal, like swimming through a documentary.
I get so caught up in everything that I don’t check my oxygen gauge as much as I should. But we all had full tanks when we went down—me, Dante, Josiah, and Kaipo. We should run out of air at the same time, right?
