Knight's Sacred Burden
The glass of the lanterns pulsed, the light rhythmic and hypnotic.
"The Vessel," one of the Purifiers said, his voice muffled by a thick, charcoal-filtered mask. "He’s closer than the readings suggested. Initiate the harmonic dampening."
The violet light surged.
Kael screamed, though the sound was barely human—a low, metallic groan that vibrated the very stones of the street. He fell to his knees, his hands clawing at the cobblestones. The obsidian armor on his chest flared, growing thicker, sharper. He could feel the blight wanting to come out, to meet the light, to expand and consume everything in its path.
