They all wear the same blue cheerleading clothes, and blondie got pointy ears—definitely Fae. "At Magic Academy, there are four houses; each one represents an element—as you can see, we all belong in the house of water. My eyebrows raise in surprise, “So what makes me so special?” Suddenly the giant shifts uncomfortably, “You didn’t answer my question.” Dodging my question I see. Okay, I’ll give him this one only because he did ask first. I take a deep breath, “Look, I’m not sure I buy the whole God, thing, but I can accept magic because… it’s part of my life… I suppose,” I say, feeling stupid for even phrasing it like that. He walks close, his bright silver eyes assessing me with deep curiosity, “I don’t sense any magic coming from you.”

“Is that so? Elena, what do you know about the types of magic sorcerers use?” “There are originally four sources of magic that result in different practices. Earth magic, Water Magic, Wind Magic, and Spirit Magic. It was a book about spells and she found herself laughing at the silliness of the thought that magic was still in existence. Some of the spells in the book made Matilda to shake her head and conclude that the book had been written during the time that witches existed. Some of the recipes in the book had ingredients like a two day old crow's blood, the crushed bark of a cider tree, four leaved clovers, mint leaves that had bloomed in the summer and many other bizarre ingredients.

So, I asked him another question. “Is there no way to break the curse?" A shadow crossed his face, something akin to sorrow. "There might be. But it's a path paved with darkness, a gamble that might claim even more lives." I held my breath, my heart pounding. "Tell me. Please." He looked at me, a fire burning in his eyes. “What are you actually doing here? You can’t be here for a social chat. I mean, you’ve got people you actually like in your pack.” “Yeah. Well, it’s been a little tense lately.” “Silas.” I looked up at him, taking a drag of the cigarette. “Get to the damn point. I have a mate who needs me.” Chuckling, I shook my head. “I had a question about magic.” His eyebrow rose, and he turned to me fully, tapping the ash off his cigarette. “Magic? Like Solaris’ magic or…” “Something else.” “I don’t know if I can help you. I’m pretty limited in what I know. Everything I know is through Sol or Lor. So, I’m not sure I’m the one you need to speak to.”
