SILVER IN THE SHADOWS
A single figure emerged from the tree line, shoulders hunched, steps limping.
Droco.
Ryker ran.
The huntsman stumbled forward, shirt dark with blood at his side and across his thigh. A deep gash ran across his temple, crusted in dried dirt. He clutched a folded scrap of cloth stained, weather-beaten, and packed with charcoal sketches and quick scrawl.
“Silas,” Droco rasped. “He’s moving faster than we thought. Ridge scouts -everywhere.”
Ryker caught him just before he collapsed, slinging one of Droco’s arms around his shoulders and dragging him toward the med-house.
