Time seemed to slow. Rhett intercepted mid-air, tackling the creature in a bone-crunching slam. They rolled, clawing and biting, but Rhett came out on top, crushing its skull beneath his jaws. And then it was quiet. Only the sound of our heavy breaths, the distant cracking of ice, and the fading hum of corrupted energy.
