The blood starts pouring out of my mouth uncontrollably, I cough while splashes of blood defile the ground under me. “Don't be scared, I'm not going to hurt you”, the shade rubs the back of its hand down my cheek, “I'm just going to drain your body of its worthless life”. The shadow figure laughed maniacally in my face. I sense the thirst for blood and the hatred towards me. I start to turn to run, but my body immediately falls limp. I start to military crawl, dragging my legs across the floor.

We just stood there, frozen, each trapped in our own spiraling thoughts. I felt my world begin to collapse again, just like it did the moment I learned about the Shadow Eye curse. That same crushing weight in my chest, that terrifying sense of finality. Like this was it—the end. And what comes after wasn’t peace or light. Just an endless stretch of darkness. I went to the till and paid for the book. We then went out of the shop and headed to the car park. When we got to the car park, I got in and took Jack from Ashton to remove him from the cover and place him back on the stand. It was around 5:30 pm so we still had some time before heading home.
