The sanitary smell of cleaning disinfectant and lemon bleach – the air is pungent with it. Wherever I am, it’s silent, only the sound is the beep, beep, beep that’s already slowly driving me insane. And the sound of my own breathing. I listen closely for any other sounds and smell the air around me. There’s a lingering scent of jasmine and lemon grass that makes my heart rate pick up. My mate has been here. The beep, beep, beep sound increases to the same rhythm of my heart. It’s a heart rate monitor, which means I’m in a Hospital.

The first thing I noticed was the silence, the entire was silent, no heartbeat, no sounds, nothing, just ghostly silence, I felt my heart beating fast in my chest, something was terribly wrong. I kicked the gate open almost tearing it clean off its hinges, I ran inside the house and the first thing I noticed was a strong smell hanging on the air, it was so strong that I had to shield my nose with the back of my hands, I recognized it at once it was the smell of chloroform, it was a chemical used was to make someone fall asleep and judging by how strong the smell was on the air, a whole of it had been pumped into the house.

She’s down and wheezing on the floor half a second later and I continue my sprint to the bathrooms. I burst in through the doors and scream, “Teagan! Are you in here?!” The smell of fake flower scents sprayed over turds wafts under my nose, making me almost retch. Adrenaline and ass-flowers do not mix well, apparently. I swallow with difficulty as I wait for a sign from my friend.

BLAZE As I stood in the hospital ward, the pungent smell of disinfectants filled my nostrils. The fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting an eerie glow across the sterile walls and linoleum floors. I could feel my stomach churn as I tried my best to ignore the overpowering scent that seemed to linger around every corner.

Aida said, walking briskly. "How long would we have to do this?" Mark asked her sounding a bit impatient. They walked past the closet. "Do you smell that?" He asked Aida, and she sighed. "Come on, we can't be late. We will check on the scent later," she said, and they walked away quickly. I was in the closet for a few more minutes after they had left. I exited the closet with bleach that I found in it, poured it on the floor to hide my scent and ran to my room.

He turned his head to look at me, then twisted around to look at Toby in the back seat. "What is that smell?" Mark asked, his voice raspy. "Smells like... musk. Or bleach." "Probably the antiseptic from the station," I lied, keeping my eyes on the road. I gripped the steering wheel tighter. "They scrubbed everything down." "It's strong," Mark grumbled. He rubbed his swollen eye. "I feel like I'm breathing in chemicals."

I immediately got off my seat and rushed over to catch her so that she would not flop onto the ground. She chuckled and slowly opened her eyes. “My savior.” She teased before she bent over and threw up all over my shoes. “I should have left you to flop onto the floor,” I muttered before I helped her over to the chair I was sitting on before it slipped my shoes off as to not track vomit throughout the room. I moved the puke bucket closer to her along with the table with all of the refreshments that I had prepared. While she dozed off again, I made my way into the cleaning supply room to retrieve some bleach and air fresheners. Vanilla scented air fresheners are always the way to go. Lavender

The room reeks of the vomit which trails from mouths, over clothes, furniture and flooring. The TV plays with the sound turned low, some sit-com acted out by fake smiles, plastic faces and canned laughter. It feels... inappropriate... and with the toe of my boot, I nudge the plug free from its socket. I find one body in the bathroom, a glass of something on the washstand which, when I tentatively test it with the tip of a finger, then the tip of my tongue, is brine...
