“Why is the Council here? Randall, what’s so fucking important that you would show your face in my suite again?” He stands up and meanders over to the clothes cupboard as if no one else is in the room, rummaging through until he finds a pair of shorts for himself. He finds another pair of shorts and tosses them to Reggie. I purse my lips and fold my arms over myself. “Bronx, Elder Randall says he has evidence that you were in an underground fighting ring with dark creatures.” “Yeah? And?” He pinches the end of his cigarette to snuff it out.

Jody said which made Andrew's face instantly change. The young man was stiffly silent, not reacting either. There were many people who insulted his condition and he never thought about it. But, if it was Jody Gardner, somehow he couldn't take it. "Answer me, Limp! What are you doing outside?" Jody asked in a slightly harsher tone than before. Andrew raised his face, feeling that he shouldn't be weak even if he was insulted. "I met my relatives, General." "Really?" Jody asked, unconvinced.

I do as he says and get to my feet; I look around and notice at least a dozen warriors flanking and surrounding us without being really noticeable, so unless you knew what to look for, you wouldn’t have known that they were anything other than plain clothed shoppers. I walk with them through the mall and out to their convoy of SUVs. Randall walks up to one SUV and opens the door, steps back, and helps Candace in, surprising her as he then closes the door behind her. He then walks over to the next SUV, opens the door, and holds his hand out to me. I hesitate for just a moment before he growls low. I sigh, then reluctantly put my hand in his and allow him to help me into the SUV.

One of us is going to die today, and it shouldn't have been me. A shadow moved across the clearing. Randy looked up and I dived at him, tearing his side. He bit me on the shoulder and his hind leg twisted out from under him. He collapsed in a heap, scratching as he struggled to get up. The shadow flew across the clearing again. If anything else was going to kill me, I'd have to get in line.

I slowly muttered, "Dad, if it comes down to it, and you can only save one of us, who do you choose? Me or Harper?" His lips parted, but no sound came out. Just then, Randall's phone buzzed. Looking like a man who had just been thrown a lifeline, he answered it instantly. It was his assistant calling from the zoo. "Mr. Sheffield, a heroic man just stepped up at the scene! He claims to be ex-Special Forces and volunteered to go in. He's already heading down into the exhibit with a tranquilizer rifle!" Randall's eyes instantly lit up. "That's great! Who is he? Does he know what he's doing?"

Randy pursed his lips, surprisingly displaying a strong presence at such a young age. "Lena, are you going to stand on the side of outsiders?" Lena blocked the young boy behind her, her face growing even colder. "Randy, it's one thing for you to mess around at home, but as a college student, to also engage in the whole gang formation thing, apart from the Dawson family's status, what else do you have?" And these followers were clearly not good people, yet Randy was actually hanging out with this group of people. Randy's cheeks turned bright red, for some reason, as he saw Lena protecting a stranger, especially a stranger he disliked. He felt a sense of betrayal.

I STILL can't get out of my head the plan Andrea told me about Zandy. I get what he means but I don't know which guy to introduce Zandy to. Just last night, I was thinking about who I could introduce him to but I don't know who. I don't know anyone who is able to like that man. "Didn't you ask Zandy what happened to him and Roven?" Andrea asked me while we were eating outside the office. I just finished the article I'm working on and it's time for lunch.

If this had happened back then, I would have been heartbroken. But now, I only replied, "Whatever." After I cut off contact completely, my family never looked for me again.
