The Helm of Awe covered my left shoulder and on my right was Valknut. Yggdrasil was in the middle and flowing from the roots of the tree was a wolf head. On either side of the wolf was a Jericho 9mm, Kiran’s personal touch to my Zeta mark. From the bottom of the roots, down my spine, was a ghost rune designed by Malachi with my name Jericho adorning the top of Yggdrasil. An hour and a half later Marcus was finished and I put my shirt back on. Tonight I would have to undress with every member of the pack present and shift for the first time in my life.

When Xavier tried to turn and bite my front leg, Draven lunged forward, snapping his jaws around Xavier's hind leg and dragging him backward, throwing the gray wolf completely off balance. I scrambled up, seizing the opening. As Xavier tried to retreat into the blinding smoke, Draven forcefully blocked his path, snapping at his face and driving him right back toward me. We were working in perfect, unspoken tandem, a synchronized storm of black and white fur cutting through the flames.

Rhaedon rolled, shaking it off, but Draven seized the moment, lunging at him with renewed fury. Fangs sank into Rhaedon's neck, drawing a guttural snarl from the russet wolf. Claws raked his belly, opening shallow wounds. Rhaedon fought back, jaws clamping on Draven's leg, crunching bone, but the rogue held on, shaking his head to tear deeper.

“It’ll help us get off this damned planet, and it won’t kill anyone on top of it. Well, any civilians, anyway. Should make you happy.” Freya simply nodded in response. “Tell us,” she said, to which Lucifer gave hir rough plan. The Ravens immediately turned down a smaller highway westwards at top speed. They leaned into the turn steeply - Kali even reached down with her fingers and let them scrape against the titacrete. Sparks flew from the contact. Xylo and Freya were both going so fast that their turns went wide. They went so far out that their bottom thrusters very nearly scraped up against the building at the corner.

Rick was already half-gone, slouched in the deck chair with a bottle dangling from his hand. He’d been talking for the last twenty minutes, though “talking” might be generous — it was more like spilling his thoughts out in broken lines, jumping from one story to another. “…and then, man, I swear—she had this look—” He laughed at his own words, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Like… like she wanted me to…” He trailed off, squinting at the bottle before taking another gulp.

So I endured everything for the bond. The lot roared with engines and voices. Rows of bikes waited in the dark, each one black and dangerous. Draven moved like thunder, all muscle and rage, his walk commanding. He didn’t look back once. He straddled the matte-black bike, silver claw marks scratched into the tank like battle scars. He revved once, the sound sharp enough to split the night in half. I stepped forward, rag clutched to my chest like it could steady my heart. He glanced at me. Barely. Cold. Helmet down. Kickstand up.

Chad stuttered as he tried to explain to Ryker that he was tired, and that was why he fell asleep, but the words couldn’t form properly. “You’re so lucky that they didn’t escape, or else I would have had your head for breakfast.” Ryker said and threw him to the side. Then he turned his attention back towards us. “Well, well, well... Our jackpot slaves are awake.” He chuckled. We both remained mute while he spoke. Drax’s head was bowed towards the ground, not even acknowledging his presence. “Today is the day the both of you make me rich.” The corner of his lips raised up in an evil smirk.
