“I’m so sorry.” Raven moved closer to me, her dark eyes studying my face in that too-smart way she had. She was only eight, but sometimes she seemed so much older. “You’re saying goodbye, aren’t you?” she said quietly. I froze. “What?” “You’re saying goodbye,” she repeated. Her voice was steady, but I could see tears forming in her eyes too. “You keep looking at us like… like you’re trying to remember us. Like you’re going away and won’t see us again.”

I let out a small breath I had been holding and debate whether or not to mind link Maddox. If there’s a chance Maddox is apart of this then he won’t save me and instead would make things worse. But… I don’t think he’s apart of this anymore. And now that Sebastian’s gone, I wonder if Maddox is the only one I can truly trust. Suddenly, Raven’s face pops in front of the crack of the crawl space. Her eyes are a pitch black with red sparks throughout them and she gives a wicked smile as she says, “Boo.”

Ryan's POV The interrogation room exuded an air of cold formality, the atmosphere tense as Raven sat stoically across from me. His usually expressive eyes were now guarded, revealing nothing. I was determined to navigate the labyrinth of truth and deception, to unravel the mysteries that had entwined our packs. "Why did you come to Venice, Raven?" I began, maintaining a steady tone. Raven's gaze met mine, a fleeting shadow of uncertainty or guilt passing through his eyes. "I was here to sign a peace treaty between our packs. It was my father's idea. He thought it would be a step towards unity."

Melisa withdrew, and Kite entered the battle. Melisa recovered so quickly and rejoined the battle. They were both powerful individuals, but they failed to remember that Raven was and still is a Luna wolf. She had twice as many abilities as the two betas combined. Raven grew furious. She didn't fight because she believed they had misidentified her as someone else, but that doesn't seem to be the case. They had come to kill her, but why would they want her dead if she was the one being wronged? They don't want peace or to talk, so she won't give them peace either. Loudly growling, she moved in between them, knocking them both out at once.

“I know Nat wants to kill you himself, but since he’s a little tied up right now, I guess I’ll have to do it for him.” Shaking her head, Ru raised her hands. Blood dripped down her arm to her elbow, but that didn’t stop her. Ru shot out a steady stream of blue light with her left hand, waiting for Raven to counter, which she did with both hands, leaving her open to attack as Ru brought up her right hand, hitting her in her injured leg. Raven let out a shriek, which sounded like the caw of the bird she was named for, and crumpled to the ground, clutching at her leg. This made Ru’s power even more overwhelming now that the Reaper only had one hand to contend with.

Raven looked at the second floor of the building before driving back to the pack. When he arrived, he parked the car in his garage and went straight to his office. Raven reviewed a few documents and rewatched the news about Jasper. He smirked when he remembered Jasper's reaction earlier. He was frustrated and confused, but it was just right. Jasper has to pay the price for his crimes. Raven's phone rang, and he saw Carter's name flash on the screen. "What do you want?" Raven asked. "Are you back?" Carter asked. "Yes, mom," Raven teasingly said and heard Carter curse on the other line.

But she had done nothing to earn it. Unlike Ravina. Ravina had never cared about power. She had never needed to prove herself through manipulation or empty words. She had been a warrior, a protector, a leader in her own right. And I had thrown her away for this. My hands clenched into fists under the table. I was a fool. I turned back to the elders. “The mating ceremony is postponed.” A heavy silence fell over the room. Amira sprang up from her chair. "You can't do this!" She was shrill, frantic.
