Raven insisted. I pried Jenner's grip off and stood up. I went to Raven and pried the fork out of her hand. "Give that to me, Ms stabby. You are still healing from those nasty bites" I chastised her. It was easy talking to her…it was like we were old friends. Raven blinked "Why am I the one in trouble? They re the one's looking at you like they want to pounce" I looked at all of them. They were beginning to assemble like the avengers of marvel except they are not the good guys and again, what the hell did I do?!

"Don't play dumb with me, Raven. I know you were at Damien's territory. I know you had a meeting with him. And now he's dead. I did send you to him, remember?” Raven looked up, her gaze matching mine. "I did not kill him, Alpha Fenrir. I swear it." I took a step closer, my voice dropping to a low menacing growl. "You expect me to believe that? You, were the last person to meet with him…and all of a sudden he is dead. Common Raven make this easy for the both of us.” Raven's face lost its color, but she stood her ground. "I didn't kill him, Alpha. I'm telling the truth. How can a weakling like me kill an alpha like Damien?”

One of the vampires had to have some, but would they give it to me? Then, I heard a tutting from behind me. “Rule one of plotting murder,” Raven said. “Don’t, especially if you’re doomed to fail. The second is don’t be so obvious about it.” I turned to look at her. She looked like she’d just taken a shower. Her eyes glowed with a soft red light. She was wearing another pair of tight leather pants and a camisole shirt under an embellished black corset. She looked as if she had rested and her eyes had a soft glow to them.

She squeezed Raven’s hand once—firm, reassuring—and nodded. They left the library with the new book tucked under Raven’s arm. Two days later they dressed for war. Raven wore fitted black leather reinforced with silver-threaded mail—light enough for a child, strong enough to turn a glancing blade. Over it, the crimson cloak Victoria had given her, now edged with protective runes sewn by the castle’s enchanters. Victoria wore obsidian scale armor that gleamed like wet blood, a short curved blade at her hip, and a cloak the color of fresh night.

Her warriors drew weapons, the metallic slide of steel loud in the stillness. “Shields up! Keep them off the handler!” Raven barked. The first beast lunged from the right, a blur of mottled muscle. Raven met it mid-air, claws raking deep. It shrieked, snapping for her throat, but she twisted, driving her knee into its ribcage and throwing it to the ground. Another was already behind her. Ragnar intercepted, his blade flashing silver as it bit deep into its neck. Black blood sprayed, burning the earth where it fell.

But I do not smell nothing but vampire, and even that is faint, as if he is hiding his full aura or something. ‘How do you know, Raven?’ ‘He reached out. He’s very.. Sunshine and happiness.’ I chuckle under my breath as I enter my workroom. Raven is amazing, but she is also kind of broody and not the sunshine type wolf. ‘I’m a lunar wolf. What do you want from me?’ ‘You demanded I kill a child once.’ ‘He was annoying as hell.’ ‘He was a child, Raven. And he had a broken arm.’ ‘Ugh! Fine, but you could have kicked him before you healed his arm.’ She rolls up in my mind, snorting at my internal eyeroll.

Ryan's POV The interrogation room exuded an air of cold formality, the atmosphere tense as Raven sat stoically across from me. His usually expressive eyes were now guarded, revealing nothing. I was determined to navigate the labyrinth of truth and deception, to unravel the mysteries that had entwined our packs. "Why did you come to Venice, Raven?" I began, maintaining a steady tone. Raven's gaze met mine, a fleeting shadow of uncertainty or guilt passing through his eyes. "I was here to sign a peace treaty between our packs. It was my father's idea.
