Shadows sweep across the foyer as they circle above me, filling the space until the light dims. They don’t attack. They hover, waiting for my command.

Raven’s POV “How is your hip feeling?” Jonathan questions once Ares finishes wiping everything clean, and I smile. “Not bad, it’s mostly healed. Ares thank you it is so beautiful,” I can’t help staring down at the giant knotted red raven on my hip and thigh, falling in love with my first tattoo. The pattern is an intricate thick band with dark red edges, lightening towards the center overlapping itself creating knots. “You’re welcome, thank you for letting me do such an amazing piece, it suits you, you guide our people well,” Ares brushes his blonde hair out of his face, then hugs me and I nod very proud that I have others believing in me.

Raven jerked from sleep due to the loud sound of thumping on her door. She sat up immediately and looked around her, slowly coming to her senses. When she finally came through, she recalled that she was in the pack house and her dusty old room. "You lazy brat! Get out of the room right now!" She heard a feminine, middle-aged voice boom from the other side of the door. It belonged to the chief cook of the Pack, who was in charge of cooking, and Raven was directly under her. Raven came to her senses and slipped out of bed before making her way to the door.
