I handed the torch to Xavier; our fingers brushed, and a shiver of grounding comfort passed between us.
“You ready?” he whispered.
No. But I nodded anyway.
He raised the torch high.
“For the Alpha who fought until his last breath,” Xavier said, his voice deep and unwavering. “For the father who raised a queen.”
