His words lingered in the air as flashes of my past played through my mind—Lucy’s voice urging me to tell Damien the truth echoing in my head.
“You’re sure he won’t hate me?” I asked quietly.
“He might get angry,” Sloth admitted, “but he won’t hate you.” He gave a tired smile. “Ahh, look at me—staying away from my mate while giving you advice.” He chuckled at himself.
“Why don’t you give your mate bond a chance?” I asked softly. “He’s right here, within your reach. If we leave this place, you might never see him again.”
Sloth looked at me for a long moment, then lay back on the bed, eyes fixed on the ceiling.
