I let out a forced laugh but they didn’t look convinced. “But you don’t look happy and there's a mark on your face.” Adeline pointed out before touching the spot where Darren had just slapped me. “Oh this,” I laughed again, “this was because I was being careless, you both know how careless mommy can get.” I finished amidst laughs and cries. “It’s really late and you guys have school tomorrow so let’s go to bed.” I told them and they both nodded as I led them to their room. “Can you read us a story, it will help us sleep faster.” Adeline said and without thinking I picked out one of their books and started reading to them.

She then began to read the pile of novels, some containing compilations of short stories, and others containing long stories about the adventures of teenagers. The soft melody of the harp and the faint sound of Harriet turning the pages of the novel made Liam feel sleepy. His body which was aching as usual made him want to sleep constantly, but this made him very annoyed. Many times he had fallen asleep wanting to spend some quality time with his wife. He didn't want to sleep anymore. He wanted to enjoy this peaceful time a little longer.

They stayed awake, refusing to sleep until I returned. I had to give them a bath and tuck them in myself. I read to him last night and he likes the book so he kept asking for more.” “You mean he asked you to finish the book?” she asked as she took an apple and peeled the skin off with a knife. “We didn’t finish it. He was already asleep before we can read the last chapter of the book.”

I whispered with a loving smile, "which story would you like tonight?" Mathew's face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. "The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!" I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf's grand adventure. Mathew listened with rapt attention, his eager eyes fixed on the pages as I spun the tale of bravery and exploration. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.
