Read The Future Novels & Stories

"I think I was older." She opened it, eyes scanning the words silently. Then her smile faded. I leaned in. "What is it?" She read aloud, voice quiet: "Dear Future Me, If he ever comes back—the boy with the storm in his eyes and silence in his voice—don’t let him go. Even if they all say it’s wrong. Even if the world tries to stop you. Because some people only come once. And if you lose him again, you might never recover." She looked at me, eyes glassy.

“Yes. This looks a lot like the future.” “The future?” “Yes. Where I'm from. I'm from the future, and I miss it so much. Iphones, cameras, sweet junkies, beautiful buildings, flashy clothes, movies, popcorn!... There are just so many things I miss from the future. Who knows? Luna is probably enjoying the future, and experimenting with the different technology we have there.” “I don't understand.”

The future doesn’t arrive with instructions. It doesn’t explain itself. It doesn’t promise clarity. It doesn’t guarantee reward. It simply opens—and waits. This chapter begins with that openness. Not fear, not excitement—possibility. Wide and undefined. The kind that doesn’t pressure you to decide everything at once, but quietly asks whether you’re willing to keep walking. Together. We don’t talk about the future in grand terms here. No sweeping declarations. No rigid plans. Instead, we approach it the way we’ve learned to approach everything else—honestly, intentionally, and without pretending certainty is a prerequisite for commitment.

“Service like seeing their past?” “Yes, by touching them. I can see them clearly and detailed like I was seeing everything through their very own eyes and I can also predict what will happen in the future through my cards and the energy that my client possesses but I don’t see futures as clearly and detailed as the past. The cards help me connect the dots from that vague premonition I see” “Then your readings for me are related to what will happen in the future?” She responded with a nod. I anxiously sighed after realizing those readings were not good at all.

"Nathaniel, what's that supposed to mean? You said you were bringing me home for the New Year, and now you're just going to stand here waiting for Bella?" Instead of answering, he fell into a rare, stony silence. I knew then he wasn't leaving anytime soon, so I slipped out the side door instead. I had barely reached the end of the alley when I heard hurried footsteps behind me. I ducked down by the wall of a nearby yard. His hoarse, desperate voice rang out. "Bella, if you've got guts, come out and face me! What's the point of hiding like this? "Whatever's between us, we can talk it out!"

"Mine's got a million too. Stole it from home. You take it." We shoved the cards at each other, stubborn idiots to the end—then collapsed into each other's arms. That moment? That was love. Giving it all up. No guarantees. Just us. The next morning, I woke up alone. His card sat beside mine, with a note scrawled in rushed handwriting: [Live well. Don't look for me.] Outside the window, a plane waited at the edge of the Neutral Zone, its propellers spinning hard enough to shake the whole damn house.

I wish you peace, happiness, and a future without limits. I stared at the screen, my eyes growing warm. I didn't know what that little app had really been—maybe a version of myself from another timeline, maybe the last mercy the universe had decided to give me. I typed two words and hit send. [Thank you.] A gust of night wind swept past. The text thread flickered into a jumble of code and vanished from my phone entirely—as if it had never existed. I lifted my head, looked at Ed, looked at this beautiful, vibrant city, looked at the dazzling future stretching out before me.

After a long time, I opened my sore, stinging eyes. Darkness filled my vision. My tears wouldn’t stop falling. “Nina! Nina, you’re awake?” Anthony rushed to my side and gently wiped away my tears. “Nina, I’m sorry… the doctor said… your eyes… you might not be able to see anymore.” He lowered his head, a bit guilty, then remembering I couldn’t see his expression at all, he softly took my hand. “Nina, don’t be afraid. I won’t abandon you. I’ll be your eyes from now on. Our wedding will just be postponed.”

Because no one knows what the future holds for you. _________________________________ Next will be updated soon. Do like and give feedback. Spread the purple heart.
