She said, standing up my eyes wide too shocked to even utter a single word as I looked at the books under the desk that she was talking about. Each book was like a bible, probably having more than a thousand pages and I had to read twenty of them in twenty-four hours. My head was already throbbing as Elizabeth closed the door behind her, my body slumping against the chair, all the excitement of working gone leaving nothing but dread. I picked up the first book, it being so heavy it felt like my arm would fall off. My hand turned the thick leather page, flipping through the pages.

It was an addiction. In the space of one week, I have finished fifteen books. Each book is as large as Oxford dictionaries. I never knew I could read so fast, I truly have been starved of the fictional world. I started to fear that I may risk emptying the royal pantry. The more I read, the hungrier I got. Perhaps I had the pregnancy for that. Or maybe both. Who knows? Louis looked at me like I was some kind of strange creature, “have you even had a bath within the past week?”

I replied I didn't wait for his response before I climbed out of bed, then went to the bathroom to do my morning routine. When I was done, I proceeded to the dinning to get a quick meal before settling down to a book I had been on for the past two days. I move awkwardly, grabbing whatever looks edible and throwing something together that barely qualifies as breakfast. It’s simple but boring. At least it’s not burned. I sit on the couch afterward, the plate balanced on my lap, chewing slowly with a faint grimace before finally pushing it away. “Good enough,” I mumble, wiping my hands. To distract myself, I grab a book and sit back down, flipping through pages faster than I’m actually reading them. My leg bounces slightly as time crawls. I read. And read. And read. The rest of the day drags painfully as hours blur together. My eyes scan line after line, my body barely moving except to turn pages, until my vision begins to sting.

With a contented sigh, I closed the book shut before setting it up on my bedside table. There were two piles, one for the books I'd completed and the other for the ones I was yet to read. In total, I'd gotten a whopping amount of 12 books and in the space of two days I'd read and thoroughly digested six. I had no idea if it was good progress or not.

I entered mine, went through the three books I had gotten from the store, and set them down on the bed. I folded my arms and read their names. The Claiming Rites, Finding the One, and Under the Red Moon. There was no order in which anyone should read these books, so I sat down and picked up The Claiming Rites. After an hour, I finished reading. The book made zero sense, and then I picked up Finding the One and spent another hour reading through it. While the first book was incomplete, the second made a little more sense. I picked up the third, which I had gone to Zion’s room with. I took my time reading, and another hour went by.
