I nodded. “Everybody talks about it.”

“You have to. You've got to get better because I am counting on you in the future.” After a moment without a response from Rivera, she added, “Okay?” Rivera bit her lower lip helplessly, not believing Candy’s words. After a minute, she sighed and picked up a macaron, then stretched it toward Candy. Candy made a face and shook her head. “Oh God, no. I've had enough of those.” Rivera looked at her, but Candy remained unwavering. After several minutes of a silent battle, Rivera retreated with a sigh and bit into the first snack.

I explained as we sat on the couch, watching another Disney movie. “I didn’t take sugar!” She argued. I chuckled. “The candies you’ve been eating contain sugar. A lot of them.” “I want candy, not sugar.” I shook my head softly. “You’ve had too much candy. It’s unhealthy.” Amelia pursed my lips when I changed my words. She had a lot to say but was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. “I’ll get the door.”

Hearing his agreement, I immediately opened the package, took out two candies, gave him one, and put one in my own mouth. My god, so sour! "Wait!" I quickly stopped him, "It's a bit sour." I said with a furrowed brow. "I can see that." Aiden moved past my hand and put the candy directly in his mouth. I saw a hint of amusement flash in his eyes. It was indeed very sour, but the emotion in his eyes was more complex. The desire and restraint in his gaze made my heart race. At this moment, the candy in my mouth began to turn sweet after the initial sourness passed. This sweetness was different from usual—perhaps because the previous sourness made this sweetness more surprising.

I agreed. "Let's look around!" Daphnie and I explored the store. There were giant gummy bears, packs of gummy food, flower bouquets, marshmallow treats, and sugar sticks. The store was every kid's dream and every dentist's nightmare. In the center of the store was a Buffett where you make your box of candy. There were pieces of caramel, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, nuts, mints, and other sweets. "Wow. Daphnie, do you wanna make a box of candy?"

Fresh flowers in a small vase. Dad pulled out a thick photo album from his coat. It was filled with pictures he had taken over the years of children all across the country, their faces lit up with joy as they ate the noodles. "Layla, look. Everyone says your noodles are delicious." His voice cracked as he stroked the cold photograph on the headstone. Mom's hands trembled as she pulled out a package of fresh candies from her pocket. She had searched the entire city to find the sweetest, best ones.

"Yes please," Lily smiles and grandpa unwraps the candy before giving it to her. "You can't bite it, and don't swallow it right away," grandpa says.

Candace enters her room and finds the candy bag in her drawer. She feels a pinky red slowly crawling through her neck till her cheeks. Last night she was sitting on her bed and reading a book while eating those candies. She didn't enjoy the reading since it turned into a boring love story. Her focus slightly shifted to the candies, the familiar smell was spreading around her, their coffee flavored taste, the slippery feeling they left in her tongue...

Lindsay approached and saw the strawberry candies on the tea table. "Is this a gift for me?" She asked while picking up the candy. Cleveland nodded as he looked at Lindsay with expectation. This was his favorite candy. He could only eat two every day. Because his father was worried that it might be bad for his teeth, so he was not allowed to eat too much sweet food. But now he had taken out all the candies for that day. Lindsay opened it and stuffed one into her mouth. "It's very sweet. Thanks for the treat. I'll invite you for a video game then!"
