Your daughter is making speedy recovery ma'am" the doctor announced beaming and Elde sagged in relief, her heartbeat stilling and then banging with renewed hope. She looked at Antonov, smiling in relief and Antonov grinned back at her, and she could almost see tears shimmering in his eyes.

“Everything is fine.” I didn’t even realize I wasn’t breathing until he pointed it out. “Lisa, baby,” he murmurs, his tone filled with gentle reassurance. “You need to stay with me. Just listen to my voice, okay? Breathe. Breathe for me.” He takes a deep breath, demonstrating for me, and I find myself mirroring his movements. Slowly but surely, my breathing steadies. The tightness in my chest loosens, and I can finally inhale deeply on my own.

I stayed there frozen on my seat, unable to move an inch. “Breather in and breathe out. Breathe in and then breathe out….” I kept chanting those continuously until I could finally calm my nerves. “You can do this, Aiv! You’re a strong girl.” I mentally prepared myself and slowly turned my head to see the “person” staring right through the window at me with its dark ashy green eyes. I felt a chill run down my spine. It was like someone had poured icy cold water on my naked body in winter. Our eyes locked for a second,but before I could come back to my consciousness, he disappeared.

Give space to the lord.” At her hazy eyes, she watched Apis drive out the ugly summonings away from Busaba. Only then her breathing was smoothing out, although it wasn’t as smooth as before. She still couldn’t breathe properly.

I keep my hands on his chest, feeling the steady thrum of his heartbeat beneath my palms. “That’s it,” I whisper, leaning down closer to him. “You’re okay, Ruslan. You’re okay.” His chest rises and falls with each deep breath, and I can feel him slowly coming back to himself. His eyes flutter open, but they’re unfocused, still trapped in that liminal space between the nightmare and reality. I stay where I am, my body pressed against his, not moving until I’m sure he’s fully with me. Finally, his breathing evens out, and I feel the last bit of tension leave his body. I let out a breath I didn’t realise I was holding and roll off him, thinking it’s over, that I can go back to my room now.
